Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has covered conflict zones over the last 45 years. Her research focuses on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry was a reporter for wars from Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry is a journalist, television anchorperson and reporter who was born in 1956. Her reporting stood out for its coverage of humanitarian crisis that occurred in war-torn countries and natural disasters. Curry was born in Japan, and educated by a Japanese mother. Her father served as a U.S. Navy sailor. Curry's parents were married in Japan which is in which her father was stationed since World War II. They were frequently moving due to the service of her dad in the military. They eventually moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. In 1978, she graduated in 1978 from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She was exposed to diverse cultures and situations during her growing up years is likely to have influenced the compassion with which she approaches global issues. The couple relocated frequently so Curry was not confined to one school for more than two years, and she traveled to different locations such as San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. Ashland was where she eventually graduated from high school. Her career in broadcasting began with an internship with KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. at the age of 22, she eventually became the first female journalist for the station. In Portland the state of Oregon, she was appointed anchor and reporter by KGW NBC's affiliate. Then, four years later she moved into Los Angeles and became a reporter at KCBS TV. Through the six years she worked for KCBS the station, she won 2 Emmy Awards.
